DRL sport badge grouping to Willi Franz. Franz who was part of a captured air crew unit, was sent to Canada in POW camp (Lethbridge). Altough Franz already received the DRA sport badge and DRL sport badge in Germany before the war, he was able to do all tests in the POW camp in Canada. This was also approved and checked locally by a sport teacher who was also taken captive. The group contains an almost unique self made document made in the POW camp. The front shows the DRL sport badge with removed swastika.
After the war Franz was very eager to homologate the the Canadien paper with the local authoroties, the gold wound badge was now also confirmed in german in 1951!
- Document from August 1937 that Franz also received the miniature and 3 cloth badges as extra next to his own DRL sport badge in silver.
- 2 private photos of the football team Franz played in during his captivity
- 1 group photo of the Luftwaffe air crew members as POW (still allowed to wear swastikas and badges!)
- DRA sport badge booklet with civil photo of Franz
- DRL sport badge book with all badges entered!!
Some pieces were stamped and approved by the Canadians.
Unique document group!
