Knights Cross grouping of Leutnant Franz Wimmer, member of Gebirgsjäger Regiment 137. Franz Wimmer officially was recorded as EKII, EKI and Honor roll clasp owner but the estate that came indirectly from the family of Wimmer also contained the S&L B frame knights cross with Souval loop and textbook tank destruction badges. A period photo of Wimmer wearing both awards comes with this group. This photo was also published in an Austrian news paper of 1969 where Wimmer is quoted in an article about the search for the gold train of Hitler ("Tips für die Schatzsucher: Ex-Leutnant Franz Wimmer").

The group contains the Knights Cross of the iron cross by Steinhauer & Lück. Three piece construction with magnetic iron core. Unmarked, so called B-frame variant of the earliest post war S&L production. The cross remains in fantastic condition and comes with Souval loop and EK2 ribbon attached. This exact cross is worn by Wimmer on 2 post war photos on veteran meetings.

The group contains the combat awards of Wimmer. A textbook tank destruction badge with blue wool backing in perfect condition. Two iron crosses 1st class of which one cased (W&L and Orth), two wound badges in black (unmarked and L/14), ostfront medal, ribbon bars, general assault badges (RS and RK) his SA sport badge and SA sport badge for war wounded.

It contains the pre war period of Wimmer as parts of the SA Standarte 59, Salzburger Sturm. Many outstanding photos of Wimmer in SA uniform, some with dagger in wear. The SA history was kept within a beautiful custom made box with SA honor flag and SA cap on top. In the group also some post card written from "Franz" and a letter Wimmer wrote to the US senator presient Robert Kennedy in 1966 about some high German officials.

There is little known about the exact history of Wimmer. It is even possible that Wimmer promoted and decorated himself at the end of the war. The grouping came through a very solid connection directly from the family and was as so in the possession of Leutnant Wimmer.
