RAD leader dagger by Robert Klaas, Solingen. Very nice untouched blad with maker mark on the bottom. Nice cross graining intact with very nice crisp motto "Arbeit adelt". Beautiful nickel cross guard and eagle head. White bone grips with small crack in the side (see pictures). Very nice and matching scabbard in very good condition with matching wear pattern to the dagger. This pieces comes with the very uncommon matching dagger hangers by Assmann "A" marked.
This very dagger was taken with the French troops after the liberation and was offered to the French "Colonel de Wavrin" (1911-1998). Colonel de Wavrin, under code name Colonel Passy, was responsible for the creation of the French resistance (under de Gaulle) in England, named Bureau Central de Reneignement et d'action. Wavin was responsible for many sabotage actions after D Day.
