Studio photo of night fighter ace Paul Gildner with Knight's Cross, German Cross, Iron Cross First Class, Front Flight Clasp and Pilot Badge. Postcard format, very good condition with minor signs of age. On the back "Oberleutnant ....... Ritterkreuz, gefallen 1943". Agfa Paper. Paul Gildner was also posthumously awarded the Oakleaves to the Iron Cross in 1943. He perished in the flames when he had to crash-land his Messerschmitt Bf 110, due to a motor failure and fog, near to Fliegerhorst Gilze-Rijen in the night of 19/20 february 1943. He had 44 victories from which 42 were in his role as a night-fighter.
