German cross in gold by Deschler & Sohn, München. Multiple piece construction with tombak backplate, riveted tombac sparkling wreath and enamelled swastika. Unmarked, typical early Deschler manufacturing. Very good but worn condition with small chips in the enamel. Fantastic overal patina. No further damage, no repairs. As often with real battle worn German crosses the enamel tends to have small cracks.

The German cross comes in its original box of issue. Inside of the box the original (and matching to the recipient!!!!) award document of the cross folded up. Awarded to Oberleutnant K. Ettinger, commander of the 16./Infanterie Regiment 213!

This complete set was brought back by Private Roy A Potts, Private in the 932nd Field Artillery Division. With the German cross some extra souvenirs Potts brought back while travelling through Europe 1944-1945 incl a rare period US map of Bergtesgaden, some photos and postcard, foreign currency and period silver cuttlery. Copies of the recipinets awards and documents come with the set, I was uanble to take the originals with me.

Absolute rarely found untouched unaltered grouping.
