Soldbuch to Pz. Schützen M. Pemmer, Pz. Rgt 3, 2. Pz. Div, Normandy 1944. Soldbuch opens on 9 May 1942 and Pemmer stayed his whole panzer career with Panzer Regiment 3, as part of the famous 2. Panzer Division. The Division that retreated from the Russian front at the start of 1944 was sent to France afterwards were it was confronted with the allied invasion from day 1! Panzer Regiment 3 saw action in St. Lo and the Argentan area. After these confrontations the Regiment was almost completely destroyed, the left overs were gathered North East of Bernay. From here they pulled backwards over the Seine to the Sedan - Mezières area to build up a new defence. After retreating over the Westwall, Panzer Regiment 3 was reformed in Bitburg/Germany. In November it was sent to Belgium to fight the Battle of the Bulge, it contained 28 Panzer IV, 64 Panzer V Panther, 3 Flakpanzer 38, 4 Flakpanzer "Wirbelwind" and 4 Flakpanzer 4 with 3,7-cm Flak!! It fought North of Bastogne and reached Custonne, east of the river Maas. After its engagements in Belgium in 1945 in reatreated back to Germany in the Eifel area / Prüm. It finally surrendered to the Americans on May 1945.
The Soldbuch is complete with uniform photo and comes with the matching KVKII award document to Pemmer, hand signed by (unknown) commander of the Division at that date. This award was awarded in France 1944 and also entered in the Soldbuch.
