Soldbuch to Gefr. Hartl, member of Infanterie Regiment 522 as part of the 297. Infanterie-Division. Hartl was wounded in the Kiew area and received the wound badge in black. The Division then moved towards Stalingrad as part of the 6th army. Hartl saw Stalingrad and was awarded with the Eastern front campaign medal, the group includes his award document for the "Ostfront" medal and the wound badge in black. Hartl was later awarded with the War Merit cross 2nd class with swords by the 297. Infanterie-Division for his merits in the Balkan. After being completely destroyed Stalingrad, the 297. Infanterie-Division took part in Serbia, Albania and Croatia.
