Iron cross 2nd class award document to Gefreiter August Behmann member of the Infanterie Regiment 59 as part of the  Rhede, Poland 1939

On August 25, 1939, the division was mobilized. At the beginning of the Polish campaign, the division advanced from the Ammern area via Zinna, Woda and Wisoki to the Warta. The division then advanced to Biala via Widawka, Lanov and Rawa. From here, the division turned north to participate in the Battle of the Bzura. This was followed by the attack across the river and the breakthrough to the Vistula at Wyszogrod. The division then took part in the battles for Warsaw. As early as mid-October, the division was moved to the west and stationed in the Rheda - Wesel area. At the end of December 1939, the division moved to the area south of Wesel.
