Retired pilot badge by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid. Zinc construction with soldered on set up and eagle. Maker marked on the reverse with S&L's post war marking. Typical post war Steinhauer & Lück example with swastika. The badge remains in very good condition with nearly all silver finish on the wreath. Very good crisp detailing. Unfortunately the catch and hinge have been removed. No repairs, no other damage.

For a long time the collectors community believed these badges were wartime; but it appears they were produced shortly after the war to supply GI's for souvenirs.

An interesting "gap filler" for an otherwise very expensive and very rare badge. Beautiful and very uncommon piece!
