Panzer assault badge by Adolf Scholtze "A.S."
Panzer assault badge by Adolf Scholtze "A.S.". Tombak construction with crimped in set up. Maker marked with the initials of Scholtze "A.S." on the reverse. Beautiful light worn obverse with perfect looking patina. Reverse set up was lost/cut off, probabaly glued on photo album or to be sewn on the uniform. Designer initials "Z" and "M" clearly visible in the grass zone.
Top panzer assault badge, probably one of the rarest early tombak badges of all panzer assault badges.
"By many collectors considered to be one of the most beautifull PAB's ever produced. Very high quality PAB with a distinctive ball hinge fixed to the badge by 4 nice round dots of solder. The crimped in catch is very fragile which explains why many of these badges will be encountered with repared or replaced catches. This however should not be a reason to walk away from an opportunity to add one to your collection. Apart from the Juncker (Porsche) PAB this is the only other early made PAB that was produced as a silver grade only." (Philippe De Bock, author of the book "The German Panzer Assault Badge of WW2")
